At Leapfrog, the working Saturdays—especially the 5th one of the months—are dedicated to employee engagement programs, ranging from team-building activities to training sessions. The goal is to break the monotony of daily work and offer employees something exciting to look forward to.
On March 29th, one such program was held to train all employees on first aid, fire safety, and emergency procedures, ensuring everyone is equipped to handle unexpected situations.
The session was introduced by our HR and admin department, followed by a detailed presentation from Mr. Denny Devassy of WHEN-IT Strikes Crisis Management.
After the morning huddle, the entire team gathered in the conference room to begin the eagerly awaited training.
The training focused on critical first aid skills, beginning with CPR, fire safety procedures, and general emergency precautions, including dos and don’ts.
CPR Training
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is one of the most vital life-saving procedures. The session covered the scenarios in which CPR is necessary and demonstrated the technique. Participants learned how to perform chest compressions to circulate blood, administer breaths to oxygenate the blood, and follow the correct pressure and counts. Everyone had the opportunity to practice the procedure, providing a valuable hands-on learning experience. Stepping into the role of a healthcare professional allowed employees to grasp the gravity and importance of this life-saving skill.
Fire Safety Training
Later in the session, the focus shifted to fire safety in high-rise buildings. Employees were educated on how to respond during a fire emergency, including evacuation protocols and proper use of fire extinguishers. The training also covered how to safely lift and move injured individuals in emergency situations, which is crucial for ensuring everyone's safety.
First Aid for Injuries
The training also covered essential first aid procedures for handling various injuries. Employees were taught how to treat cuts and bleeding, including how to apply pressure, clean, and dress wounds. The session also covered how to control bleeding using tourniquets and hemostatic agents and how to handle fractures by immobilizing and stabilizing the affected area.
Fire Drill
The day concluded with a fire drill, where employees learned how to handle different types of fires using various extinguishers. The training provided practical knowledge on identifying the correct extinguisher for different types of fires and how to use them effectively.
By the end of the day, the Leapfrog team was actively involved and walked away with valuable, practical skills, knowing how to respond in emergency situations and potentially save lives.
